Okay I have an addiction...

If you know me you know that I love fashion. More specifically I have a certain addiction in fashion... Sunglasses. I can't ever have enough pairs of sunglasses. I love the way someone can be transformed in the matter of 5 seconds. I can't tell you how many times I've overhauled a complete outfit just because I wanted to wear a specific pair of sunglasses. I sometimes feel like a parent to my sunglasses and no matter how hard I try I have my favorites. I think I have somewhere around 30 pairs of designer sunglasses which I know is extreme. I write it off as just a little here just a little there. Probably at the end of my life my friends wont be fighting over money from me they'll be fighting over my sunglasses. I've actually already had a few that have said to me "Hey if you die can I have that pair?" Yeah I know I have lovely friends. Anyway like I said earlier I have my favorites and here they are:

These need almost no introduction but I will still give them an intro. They are Ray-Ban Aviators but more importantly they are different from your run of the mill Ray-Ban Aviators. Why? If you notice most have more of a tear drop shape as seen here:

Why I prefer the more rounded and less tear dropped version of the aviators is because for people like me that prefer a fuller sunglass they add more coverage and give the Aviator a modern feel versus a retro look with the tear drop version. Believe me I think both are great but for my face type I prefer the rounded version teardrop can sometimes look weird on me. It really depends on what you feel suits your face though.

The second pair of sunglasses I can't live without is another pair of Ray-Ban's called The Wayfarer. It sometimes might be overplayed but I still love being able to throw on a pair of Wayfarers. The important thing for me though is to get the bigger Wayfarer's. There are a couple different variations on the Wayfarer but I prefer the black, wider more classic version.

I have a pair in white but they are smaller and I can feel them squeezing the sides of my head... Not fun.

Those are really the two pairs I can't live without. I'll update with more of my sunglasses soon.

A Letter Of Intention

I wanted to update the blog with more information on what I hope this site becomes.
First off I want it to be a place where men and women come for fashion advice. I'm not an expert I simply know what I like and know what I don't. I'm always asked for advice when it comes to fashion so I figured this site could be an extension of that.
Second off I hope to have things from time to time that might not be directly related to fashion but are still fun and hopefully informative.
Third off I want to make sure no matter what that this is a place for fun, humor, and love. So many people don't feel that fashion is inclusive and feel that it's exclusive... Well that changes here. I don't care if you're a size 0 or size 30. Fashion is about fun and about expressing yourself through what you choose to wear. No woman or man regardless of size should be deprived of that. A painting isn't any less beautiful because it's made on a different canvas or in a larger format. Fashion isn't any less beautiful on a man or woman that has hips or curves or is what would be considered plus size. That's another goal that the term "plus size" goes. I feel the term tries to divide woman and in some cases men. People are people here no matter what size.
So enjoy, comment, and make sure to have fun with whatever you're wearing today.

Style Icons

Someone who is called a "style icon" can be from any walk of life. You don't have to be in high society to be a style icon.
I've walked in so many big cities and gotten inspiration for fashion from people who don't even realize that in their own way they have had an impact on how I view fashion.
Let's take a look at a classic example of fashion and how it can be inspiring:

This is the perfect example of how good fashion is ageless. Trends can come and go but if you buy pieces like these they'll never go out of style.
First off the pearls. Pearls can be worn in many different ways in varying degrees of success when it comes to making them fashionable. Every woman should own pearls for this simple fact: They are beautiful and elegant without looking too flashy or over the top. The best way to wear pearls is with a beautiful dress of about knee length. Pearls can go with basically any color but are preferable with black, pink, or blue. They can also be worn with a dressier shirt and dress pants but this look is less formal and should not be used for an event where you want to fully impress.
Next up I know will probably divide people... Elbow length gloves. I know some people don't like these type of gloves and to that I say if it's not your style move on. Don't force something that isn't your personality just to "do it" it will come off as contrived and most likely you'll feel self conscience. I personally love a woman in elbow length white or black gloves. Colors on elbow length gloves should be avoided or it might come off as too 1980's. White or black gloves are the timeless options. They give a certain femininity and sexiness while covering up. Just make sure to avoid any that look shiny or it will come off as dominatrix.
The dress I think everyone can agree on is simply gorgeous. The color is a beautiful muted pink with a bow in the middle which serves many purposes. First off it defines the waist. If your dress doesn't have this an easy substitute is a belt in a neutral color (black or white for the most part.) It also acts to add a certain feminine flair to the dress. Again if you want this feminine flair pick a basic belt with maybe a flower design on the clip as this can give the same effect. Just avoid any belts that look western or colors that don't match your dress. Remember dress first then accessories. The best part of this dress for me is what it doesn't show. Any woman can dress like a prostitute but it's the women who dress like ladies that stand out. No man wants to take a woman that could be on mud flaps home to meet Mom. Less is more always.
Finally the hair cut. Above the shoulder with a little bit of volume works for almost any face shape and with very loose waves on the end adds that extra something to the look.
Remember style icons can teach us much and one of the most important lessons is that not every trend or fashion that looks good on someone else will look good on you and that's okay. It's about finding pieces and ideas you like and slowly incorporating them into your life to define who you are on the inside.
